Oh memes, it can be such a fun way to consume content. These are commonly funny relatable Graphics paired with some kind of text that tells a joke or a story and they tend to also include a pop culture reference in some way. The point of memes is that they really rely on some kind of shared understanding between the Creator and the viewer. So by using something like a screen grab from a popular TV show, you know that the person who is going to see this is gonna understand maybe the connection between the characters or the story going on in the frame and then you can use that as a Creator as a vehicle to tell another story or to tell a joke or to share a relatable experience. We post this type of content a lot over on the creatorly media page and it's a really fun way to generate that relatability share something funny with your audience when you are posting for a page that doesn't necessarily have a face associated with it. So Brand Pages memes can be a really great strategy.

Honestly, my theory on why memes are so effective is because of their relatability and this relatability leads to engagement shareability and then of course furthered reach and growth people on social media love to be entertained and have a good laugh and if it's something they find funny they're very likely to share it with a friend who's gonna find it funny too. So I think memes are a great opportunity as a Creator to kind of let loose a little bit show more of your funny side and find those areas between you and your audience where you have something in common. All right, so let me show you how to make a meme. Okay. So the first thing that we're gonna do is actually head over to giphy.com. This is where I like to start my search process because we're probably gonna use a gift for this or sometimes you might think of a meme when you're like watching a TV show or something and then you see Screen grab from that TV show that you think could be good in that case. You might grab that from YouTube or Netflix or like wherever you were watching it. But in this case, we're gonna look for giphy for something that could work.

So my thought process around this one is I want to get a kind of fun and nostalgic pop culture reference that might have some sort of connection to Van life. And so there's sort of like two things that come to mind for me one is that 70 show which I watched a bit as a kid and young teenager and they always drove around in like a really big van. So I think there's potential with that but the other pop culture reference that I thought of was Scooby-Doo, which I think is a maybe like more Universal reference that a lot of us will recognize because obviously the Mystery Machine they all drove around in a really big fan too. So I think there could be some fun stuff to play off of from Scooby-Doo. So I'm just gonna search who we do on giphy and see what comes up and I can find anything that I could connect to Van life. It's already so much funny stuff here to pull from like I feel like this one could be pretty funny taking the corner there in the Mystery Machine. Mmm, I think that this one could be a really fun one if I captioned it with something like how I feel trying to find my iOverlander spot at night because I feel like that could be relatable to other van lifers. So I'm gonna go for that. So I'm just gonna right click and save this image. Okay, and of course, we're going to pop back over to canva where we've got all our other designs already saved. I'm gonna go ahead and create another design. And again, I'm going to make this one our standard Instagram post size. Okay, and now that I've got this open, I'm just gonna click and drag this GIF that I just saved on to the canvas screen and that'll start uploading it. So here it is.

Okay cool. There's a lot of different formats you could do for this. I personally think that formatting it sort of like a tweet can kind of work. Well basically you're just gonna have your text right above the image the same way it would show up. If you tweeted this there's lots of other great meme formats though. You can like label different people in the scene, but we're just gonna go for the straightforward text above image for this one as I'm creating these I'm always just playing around with different text sizes because obviously we want it to be nice and like Justified above the image, but we also don't want the text to be so small that it's, you know hard to see when you're scrolling. So I think this is probably going to be a good proportion. I'm just gonna size up the whole thing and Center it Okay, I think that looks good. And then I'm gonna change the background again to my sort of off-white color. And that's literally it. It's so straightforward easy to do again like the Tweet graphic. The main challenge here is coming up with a funny idea. It's gonna grab your audience's attention. So you're probably gonna spend a lot more time brainstorming than you will on actually editing these but very quick and easy to do.
